Mountain hiking at all altitudes
From beginning of May until end of October you will experience the best our mountains have to offer in terms of great hiking. It’s the time of the year where nature transforms into a colorful and lush mountain paradise.
Alpine hiking from 840 to 1.200 meters
Starting directly at the Hotel (840 meters) there are numerous beautiful paths to take in and around the village of Mutters – leading you through lush fields and dense forests up to the main station of the Muttereralm Gondola. You will find hiking signs all around to know exactly how far and in what direction to go – the area has been awarded with the Tyrolean Hikers-Certification.
Our tip: take the mountain tram Stubaitalbahn to the village of Kreith (10 min). From there you will find a comfortable and beautiful hiking path over the Telfer Wiesen to reach the Alpine Retreat Stockerhof (1.196 meters above sea level). After taking a break and enjoying some typical Tyrolean cuisine you can head back to the tram station (30-minute walk) and take the tram back to Mutters.
Hiking paradise Muttereralm from 1.400 to 1.800 meters
Starting from the mountain station of the Muttereralm (1.608 meters) you will reach the Kreitheralm or Götzneralm after a 30-minute hike with a altitude climb of about 150 meters – this hike is ideal for families with children.
Another hiking trail with a 300 meter difference in altitude leads you to the Birgitzer Alm at 1.808 meters above sea level. You will be rewarded with a stunning view of the Ranges Kalkkögel, the Nordkette and the entire Inntal-Valley. The hike is also about 30 minutes.
Mountain hiking and climbing up to 2.404 meters
Leaving the Birgitzer Alm you can take a 40 minute hike to the beautiful Birgitzköpf Retreat at 2.089 meters above sea level. If the great panoramic view isn’t enough – you have the chance to go even higher and take another 40 minutes to reach the Nockspitze mountain peak that offers a truly unique view of the entire area.
